Operation Delta Dog is a non-profit organization with a mission to tackle two big problems with one great solution. We are working to help reduce the number of veteran suicides and at the same time reduce the number of dogs euthanized due to overcrowding in animal shelters. Service dogs are a practical and successful way to reduce stress, treat depression, and manage the panic attacks associated with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other challenges. Working with experienced trainers and positive-reinforcement methods, we rescue homeless dogs from Massachusetts shelters and breed-rescue groups and train them to work as service dogs with local veterans who are suffering with TBI, PTSD and other challenges. The veterans take an active role in training their service dog at our training classes without leaving their jobs or families.
